North East roadworks update 11 - 17 February 2012

A1, Western Bypass, Kingsway Interchange, Tyne & WearSlight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at Kingsway Interchange for improvement works. There will be a full closure of the southbound carriageway with diversion in place and northbound lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The works will take place until 26 March.

Freezing rain and ice alert for drivers across the North

Freezing rain turning to ice on sub-zero road surfaces could lead to very hazardous driving conditions across the North over the next few days the Highways Agency is warning.

Drivers are being advised that sections of the A1 (M) outside Darlington will close overnight from next week for essential repairs and maintenance.

A1 Western Bypass, Dunston to Consett Route Interchanges, Tyne & WearSlight delays are expected overnight on the A1 between Dunston and Consett Route Interchanges for construction works. There will be one lane open southbound from 10pm and 6am. The works will take place 30 January - 5 February.

A1 Western Bypass, Blaydon, Tyne & WearSlight delays are expected overnight on the A1 at Blaydon Bridge for fence repairs. There will be one lane open southbound from 10pm and 6am. The works will take place 25 - 26 January.

Contraflow for A1 Alnwick Bypass maintenance

Drivers using the A1 Alnwick bypass in Northumberland are being advised that routine maintenance on the northbound carriageway will get underway from 4pm on Sunday (22 January) requiring a contraflow on the dual carriageway and lane closures.

A66 resurfacing between Little Burdon and Long Newton

A £2.5m Highways Agency project to resurface the dual carriageway section of the A66 between Little Burdon and Long Newton near Darlington is to get underway next week.

A1(M), Junction 56, County DurhamSlight delays are expected overnight on the A1(M) at Junction 56 for bridge repair works. There will be lane closures in place northbound with hardshoulder running from 8pm to 6am. The works will take place 16 - 20 January.

Fine and points for Humberside driver who breached road block

A driver from Humberside has been handed a £60 fine and three penalty points after driving towards Highways Agency Traffic Officers working to re-open a motorway following a serious incident.
