The Project
A £2 million scheme to improve safety along the A52 between Bingham and Grantham commenced on 28th January 2008 and was completed on Wednesday 14th May 2008.
The scheme involved the resurfacing and partial reconstruction of both carriageways along a 2.5km (1.5 mile) section of the A52 between Whatton Prison and Elton Road Bridge. Work to strengthen the bridge over the River Smite also took place. Road markings and signs were renewed along various sections of the entire 21km (13 mile) route between Bingham and Grantham.
Due to the complex nature of the works and for the safety of road users and the workforce, the improvements required a number of different traffic management arrangements.
We would like to apologise to roadusers and residents for any inconvenience caused as a result of the scheme and thank them for their patience and understanding whilst this essential work was being undertaken.
The scheme was necessary to ensure the continued safe provision of the A52 and avoid the need for unplanned emergency repairs. Roadusers will now benefit from a smoother and quieter ride.
