Equal opportunities monitoring

To annually monitor how successful we are at ensuring equality of opportunity in the workplace, we monitor the outcomes of key employment practices and then use this information to inform future practice.

All Highways Agency staff and applicants are encouraged to complete the Diversity Monitoring Form 50.2KB PDF which forms the basis of this monitoring. We then use this information to monitor actual outcomes at key points in people’s working life with us, for example:

  • Recruitment and selection — Who are we attracting to apply? Are we advertising in the right places? Who is successful at the application, interview and offer stages? Do we need to do anything to ensure that particular groups are not disadvantaged by the way we do things?
  • Training — Does everyone have an equal opportunity to apply for and go on relevant training?
  • Pay — Are we sure people are getting paid equally for work of equal value? Are performance bonuses being allocated fairly?

The information is held on a database with restricted access for monitoring purposes only.
