Issues raised in episode 2: Keeping the Show on the Road
This episode features lots of information about the Highways Agency’s response to adverse weather in winter. Whilst most expect ice and snow, last winter was more notable for storms, high winds, rain and floods. We have to be ready to respond to any severe weather events.
You can get more information about our salt spreading operations on our Area 9 page.
The Highways Agency doesn’t provide weather forecasts — but we do promote severe weather warnings issued by the Met Office.
This video has more information about how we work with the Met Office, see our video clip The Met Office at the Highways Agency.
We also run campaigns to encourage drivers to prepare for winter. More information on last year’s “Make Time for Winter Campaign” can be found on The National Archives website.
