Highlights of 2000/01
- July 2000
The Government announces its 10 Year Plan for transport. This provides for £21 billion of investment for the Agency's roads over the next 10 years. - July 2000
All of the Agency's non-motorway trunk roads in London transfer to Greater London Authority (GLA) under the new London Mayor. - October 2000
The Agency is awarded Investors in People accreditation, representing a tribute to the hard work and dedication of its staff. - October 2000
The final section of the M60 Manchester outer ring road from Denton to Middleton was opened. This scheme will bring significant economic benefits to deprived areas by taking heavy traffic out of a busy town centre, providing better connections for long-distance traffic and improving safety on local roads. - March 2001
Contract awarded for the £160 million public private partnership Traffic Control Centre. When fully operational by March 2004, it will provide a state-of-the-art facility for providing traffic information on our roads direct to the public, media and private sector organisations. - March 2001
