Highways Agency Information Strategy
The first Highways Agency Information Strategy was published in 2006. This refreshed version endorses and reaffirms the key messages and reflects our growing maturity and understanding of the issues. It underlines the importance of good governance in achieving efficient and effective solutions to the challenges we face.
The Highways Agency Information Strategy has been developed to support the delivery of our recently published Strategic Plan. The plan establishes our new vision; to be 'The world's leading road operator'.
Our Information Vision has three key strands which focus upon the continuous improvement of our information asset:
- To inform our customers through the provision of Trusted Reliable Useful Effective information
- To make the best use of our information asset to improve our performance and that of our partners
- To deliver robust, efficient, effective and reliable information systems and services to our customers, staff and stakeholders
Our information asset is critical in delivering all of our core functions:
- To manage traffic
- To tackle congestion
- To provide information to road users
- To improve safety and journey time reliability
- To respect and minimise our impact on the environment
The document is divided into four parts - an overarching section followed by three sections reflecting the needs and expectations of our customers, our staff and our stakeholders and partners. The message is the same but is tailored for each audience so you can choose the part that is meaningful and relevant to you. All sections are available to everybody.
