Highways Agency Health and Safety Assessment Certificate
Highways Agency Health and Safety Assessment Certificate
The Highways Agency Health and Safety Assessment Certificate aims to embed Health and Safety standards in the procurement process. It is designed as a high-level check to ensure that suppliers demonstrate the required commitment to effective safety management both at organisational and operational level; a legal requirement for the Agency as a client under the Construction Design Management (CDM) Regulations 2007.
The Certificate is tailored to satisfy Health and Safety requirements as part of an Expression of Interest to a Highways Agency OJEU Contract Notice. Suppliers that regularly express interest are invited to undergo the Assessment to eliminate the need for resource-intensive evaluations during each separate tender process.
A valid Certificate is deemed mandatory for most large Highways Agency contracts, although this does not exclude other suppliers from expressing interest. Where applicable we have scope to run ad hoc assessments, or assess against standard Health and Safety requirements depending on the nature and size of the contract.
For full details of the Assessment process, view our Assessment Model (100KB PDF).
Update on Assessment Round 2011-12
The current round of Health and Safety Assessments is taking place between September 2011 and February 2012. Successful suppliers will receive their certificates following completion of their assessments.
Certificates from the previous round will remain valid either until superseded or until the current assessment round is complete.
