About this Campaign
Who we are looking for
We are looking to recruit a number people to Pay Band 7 and 8 posts within various directorates and locations within the Agency. There is a clear distinction between the standards and levels expected from the higher grades. Please see our Guidance Notes for a full description of the distinctions.
Reserve lists
Although we are recruiting to a number of specific posts during this campaign, we will also compile a reserve list of candidates who are successful at assessment centre but who are not offered a Job Specific interview (See Selection process). This list will remain ‘live’ for up to 12 months and, as new, similar vacancies arise, reserve list candidates will be offered an interview, and, if successful at that interview, a post. Also any candidate successful at Assessment Centre and interview but not offered a post, will be considered for similar posts which occur in the next 12 months without further selection processes. In these situations, further advertising will not take place.
Jobs on offer
The following posts have been included in the exercise at the point of advertising, although, given the changing nature of the business, this may change. We will try to ensure that posts are not withdrawn, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Office Locations and Organisation Structure
For background information on the role of each Directorate, please see our section on the Highways Agency organisation structure and to find the precise location of each of our offices, please see the office locations section on the website.
Where a location in the above table is described as To be confirmed, this means that the location will be determined by a number of factors including the current address of the successful candidate.
There are a number of vacancies on offer, and whilst some post in different Directorates and various locations will fit into the same field, eg, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, some of the posts differ considerably. It is important therefore that you only apply for those posts which match your skills set and for which you feel you are particularly suited. However, if you are applying for all 99 posts ie making a speculative application, you will be considered for positions which best match your experience, qualifications and current address.
Please note it is not normally Highways Agency policy to pay removal expenses.

Terms and Conditions
Appointments for existing civil servants will be on level transfer or promotion. Appointments for Highways Agency staff will be made in line with current terms and conditions.
Successful applicants will be expected to take up the posts as advertised. Appointment to the pay band attached to the post does not signify or imply that the successful applicant will have any right, on initial appointment, to a different post at that grade.
Salaries
Starting salaries for new entrants are quoted below and successful candidates will be subject to a probationary period. Over a period of time and subject to satisfactory performance, salaries will increase in line with annual reviews.
The starting salary for Pay Band 7 is circa £41,000
The starting salary for Pay Band 8 is circa £49,000
