How Will I Be Managed?

How will I be managed?

On hand to help

At every stage of the Graduate Leadership Development Scheme you will be able to rely on professional advice and personal experience.  This will help guide you through any challenges that you may face.

Line Managers

Your line manager will be responsible for your day to day development.  They will have regular review meetings with you to ensure that your objectives are being met, and they will be fully involved in your training and development.

How will I be supported?

Support will come from a variety of sources around you, including other graduates.

Your development, learning and enjoyment whilst on the scheme is important to us; this is why we have set up a network of support.

Naturally, support will come from your Line manager, and on joining the graduate scheme you will be assigned both a mentor and a buddy.

Mentors

Your mentor will be someone with a variety of experience from within our business. Their impartiality could prove important at times when you need help working through things such as work issues, career paths, skill development and general discussions about opportunities with the Highways Agency. By sharing their knowledge and experience with you, they will help you identify your own development needs and progress your own career.

Graduate Buddy

Your buddy will be a graduate who,  is likely to be already on  the Leadership Development Scheme. Through their experiences they will be able to offer you advice and suggestions based on what they have learned.  The most important aspect of having a graduate buddy is the level of informal contact you get from them.   After all they have most likely already been there themselves!
