Development and Training
The Leadership Development Scheme aims to develop future leaders of the HA and one of the ways it does this is by having a structured development plan in place.
The scheme involves a series of training and development opportunities designed to help you develop a well rounded competency base comprising of all the elements of leadership. Examples of courses you will undertake include:
- Project Management
- Foundation in Management (leading to an accreditation from the Institute of Leadership and Management)
- 360 degree feedback and coaching sessions
- Leadership practice course
You will also have access to the Highways Agency’s core training directory, a comprehensive list of training opportunities that you can use to help address any development needs you identify.
We also encourage the use of a structured way of recording your development through the Leadership Development Scheme. This plan is used to record any areas you need development in, and it is then reviewed as part of your 6 monthly one to one reviews and an action plan is drawn up.
The scheme places a big emphasis on development - especially self driven development. We offer a structured programme and support network but some of our most successful graduates have been those not afraid to take the lead and drive their own careers.
