At the Interview
If you pass the screening stage, you will be invited to attend an interview. We will contact you at least five days before the event to ensure that you have time to make appropriate arrangements.
Please note the interview contains competency based questions; please read the guidance if you are not familiar with competency based interviewing.
If you applying for a PB5 or PB6 post you will participate in a presentation exercise lasting approximately 10 minutes followed by a competency-based interview including some technical questions. We will send you details of the presentation topic in advance of the interview. For PB5 & PB6 we will be assessing the Communication & Marketing and Programme & Project Management competencies during the presentation, although evidence can be gained throughout the interview on all competencies.
If you are applying for a PB4 post you will only be required to do a competency based interview including some technical questions. You will not be required to give a presentation
Please note that there may be observers at both the interview and presentation exercise. We will contact you after your interview when results have been scored to advise you of the outcome.
If you are successful at the interview, you may be offered a role with the Highways Agency, pending satisfactory responses to security checks, criminal records checks and medical assessment.
If you consider that you may have a disability and are eligible under the GIS scheme, you will automatically be put forward to the second stage provided that you satisfy the minimum criteria described under the eligibility and score the minimum acceptable in each of the competencies on the achievement record.
