You’ll provide financial and technical support to the Traffic Technologists, managing financial and contractual budgets. This will involve carrying out monthly forecasts and, by liaising with contractors and consultants, ensuring they’re entered into our finance systems on time.
You’ll also have to spot any variations in the forecasts, be able to explain why they’re there and, importantly, know how to rectify them when informing your colleagues. This is why it’s important that you develop effective relationships with your managers, colleagues, (and) stakeholders and suppliers.
You’ll demonstrate practical skills and have an understanding of traffic, science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer systems or any other similar technologies. You’ll ideally bring your project and programme support management skills (PRINCE2), and an understanding of national highway standards, traffic control and Intelligent Transport Systems.
Based on your background and experience, you could find yourself working on anything from our command & control, telecommunications, to our traffic control and highway-electrical systems.
So, if you’ve a minimum 2.2 degree in an engineering or science discipline (or another relevant qualification) or a reasonable amount of experience in the industry, we want to meet you.
