With new and improved ways of working in practice across the directorate, we are looking to you to bring greater project delivery capability to the agency. Managing supplier performance to budget, time and quality, we need you to place particular emphasis on value for money and affordability. Transport remains high on the political agenda and from a project management point of view this presents a variety of exciting challenges.
As comfortable leading a portfolio of projects as you are leading a single major one, you will confidently deliver a range of business plan targets. As you manage team and supplier performance to budget, you must always ensure value for the taxpayers’ money as you deliver projects to the value of £150m with an annual spend of £50m.
Ensuring project forecast outcomes, you will fully utilise PPM techniques across all projects. Working closely with suppliers to identify, drive, capture, implement and transfer innovation and best practice across projects, you will work with other directorates to ensure best value on a whole-life basis.
With a degree level education or equivalent experience, and a well-developed commercial understanding, you must have proven contract management skills to accompany your communication and negotiation skills. You’ll also need a track record of successfully challenging on quality cost and timescales.
