M62 - Your Local History

A lot of finds were uncovered during the archaeological evaluation carried out for the M62 Junction 6 Improvement scheme so we thought it would be nice to provide an interactive website so you can see what we found.

Don't Cross or Walk Along Motorways

The Highways Agency aims to make more people aware of the dangers of walking or crossing our motorway. We have launched a poster and radio campaign aimed at 16-25yr olds. Hopefully with our hard hitting posters, our message will come across.

Procurement of a National Vehicle Recovery Manager begins

We are pleased to announce that the design stage of the project has been completed. We are now seeking expressions of interest for the role of National Vehicle Recovery Manager (NVRM). They will be responsible for providing the National Vehicle Recovery Service (NVRS) that will comprise a range of vehicle recovery and associated management services.

In order to begin the procurement stage, an Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) notice has now been published. This will enable us to provide the Agency with a National Vehicle Recovery Manager whilst ensuring an open and fair competition.

The OJEU notice provides details of:

  • Who the contracting authority will be
  • What the scope of the contract is
  • Which procurement procedure will be applied
  • What the timescales are that need to be met

Details of the OJEU notice can be found via the Forthcoming Contracts section of the Agency's website:  http://www.highways.gov.uk/business/9952.htm

As the project progresses we will continue to provide updates at key stages.
