Sussex Safety Cameras

FACT: Each year there are 6000 accidents in Sussex in which 1200 people are killed or seriously injured.
A Sussex-wide partnership has been formed to encourage all drivers to slow down - particularly on roads where people have been killed or injured in accidents.
Safety cameras will be installed in these areas to help the Partnership's aim of reducing casualties.

In 2001, 1,174 people were killed or seriously injured on roads in Kent and Medway. Excessive or inappropriate speed was a contributory factor in approximately a third of those crashes.
To combat this, the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership was formed in July 2002. The Partnership is working to reduce death and serious injuries on Kent and Medway's roads by deterring drivers from speeding through the use of speed cameras, particularly at places where there has been a history of injury crashes.
