New removal powers for traffic officers - Regulations and summary of consultation responses

Thank you to those who responded to the consultation on the removal storage and disposal of vehicles by traffic officers. We considered all responses and have been working with the Department for Transport to develop a final set of regulations. The Minister has now agreed the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles (Traffic Officers) (England) Regulations 2008 and the summary of consultation responses. A copy of both can be accessed at:

  • Vehicle Recovery Consultation

The Removal and Disposal of Vehicles (Traffic Officers) (England) Regulations 2008 will come into force in early October 2008.

A hard copy of the summary of consultation responses will be sent to those who responded to the consultation.
