Don't Cross or Walk Along the Motorway

The Highways Agency aims to make more people aware of the dangers of walking or crossing our motorway. We have launched a poster and radio campaign aimed at 16-25yr olds. Hopefully with our hard hitting posters, our message will come across.

Here is some info that might interest you:  

  1. There are more trespassers on our motorway during Summer time.
  2. More so at weekends. 
  3. In a 6 month period in 2008 we had in the North West,  over 500 incidents involving trespassers. 
  4. There have been 2 people killed on the M61 between 2007-2008. In 2007 alone, there were 8 people killed on our motorways in Area 10.
  5. Between 2003-2007 there have been 26 people killed on our motorways in Area 10.
