Archaeologists working on the £122 million Pepperhill to Cobham Widening Scheme, in Kent, have discovered a rich archaeological landscape revealing artefacts over 10,000 years old. The discoveries include a series of Roman high status burials dating from the 1st Century AD, which are amongst the best examples found in Britain to date.
The A30 Bodmin to Indian Queens scheme was carefully designed to avoid damaging known ancient monuments, but its construction was also an opportunity to make new discoveries. We carried out large scale investigations which will help to build up a picture of human life and environmental change in Cornwall over the last 4,500 years.
