Technical and Operational Development Strategy Group (TODSG)

The Tech­ni­cal and Oper­a­tional Devel­op­ment Strat­egy Group (for­merly the Research Strat­egy Group), is a cross Agency/DfT level forum designed to give strate­gic direc­tion to HA research and ensure strate­gic align­ment with Agency objec­tives.  The Tech­ni­cal and Oper­a­tional Devel­op­ment Strat­egy group is chaired by the Net­work Ser­vices Direc­tor, and includes direc­tors from Major Projects, Traf­fic Man­age­ment and Net­work Deliv­ery & Devel­op­ment Direc­torates and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Depart­ment for Trans­port (DfT) Chief Sci­en­tific Advi­sors Unit and Strate­gic Roads and National Net­works Direc­torate (the High­ways Agency spon­sor division).

The Tech­ni­cal and Oper­a­tional Devel­op­ment Strat­egy Group role includes:-

  • Direct­ing the High­ways Agency Research Strat­egy to ensure that it aligns with High­ways Agency and DfT policy
  • Ensur­ing align­ment of research with High­ways Agency Busi­ness Plan at strate­gic level and vice –versa
  • Sup­port­ing the Knowl­edge Pro­gramme Leader in pro­duc­tion of 4 year Research Strat­egy Document
  • Review / Approve 2 year Knowl­edge Pro­gramme pro­duced by the Knowl­edge Man­age­ment Group
  • Review­ing the Research Strat­egy and Knowl­edge Pro­gramme (annually).
