Tunnel Vision

Acetylene gas research to reduce incident-related delays

Following combined research into the properties of acetylene gas, the Agency has been a key contributor in implementing a change to Fire and Rescue Service (F&RS) policy that will significantly reduce disruption to road users.
Award win for Hindhead Tunnel

The A3 Hindhead tunnel in Surrey has been recognised as the best of its type in the world. The project, which when it opens later this year will be the UK's longest underland road tunnel, won best in class at the New Civil Engineer International Tunnelling Awards at a ceremony in London in December.
New Bowdon View bridge installed

The new M56 Bowdon View bridge was installed as a solution to long-running problems with the old Bowdon View bridge which was subject to lane and weight restrictions and closures over the last few years.
