M62 - Your Local History
A lot of finds were uncovered during the archaeological evaluation carried out for the M62 Junction 6 Improvement scheme so we thought it would be nice to provide an interactive website so you can see what we found.

Don't Cross or Walk Along Motorways
The Highways Agency aims to make more people aware of the dangers of walking or crossing our motorway. We have launched a poster and radio campaign aimed at 16-25yr olds. Hopefully with our hard hitting posters, our message will come across.

Building Collaborative Partnerships
Date: 09/08/2010
A number of successful research collaborations initiated by the ERA-NET ROAD II project are being taken forward by the Agency.
The Agency is taking forward a number of successful research collaborations initiated by the ERA-NET ROAD II project. This European Commission funded project brings together experts from 15 national road administrations to facilitate information exchange, share best practice, identify commonalities and fund joint trans-national research. The Agency has co-funded three stand-alone research projects and three co-funded research programmes (on Climate Change, Road Safety and Asset Management), subsequently increasing the earning power of our Research and Development (R&D) budget.
This method of procuring research is really gaining momentum and a further research programme is being planned for January 2011. We have made good progress towards creating a permanent structure that will continue the work initiated through this project when it ends in May 2011. To help national road administrations identify common research priorities, a web based Road Research Access Facility is being developed that will contain the past and current research programmes of all participating countries. We will continue to engage with the wider research community and seek opportunities to maximise the benefits of collaboration for the Agency.
