Thursday:
Apart from the odd snow flurry in the southeast the southern half of the Network will remain dry today, if rather cloudy and cold. Further North however, it is a different story with some hazardous driving conditions to contend with. Snow is bad enough but freezing rain is much worse and this is currently falling across from about North Lancashire northwards, it is patchy at the moment but could easily cause problems, particularly as it shifts southwards to the larger conurbations of Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester. So road users need to be extra careful today and expect some significantly increased journey times. Be prepared.
Thursday Night:
Into this evening the rain is more likely to turn to snow, initially Yorkshire and Lincolnshire but increasing the Midlands at risk as well. In fact it does look as if it will be the Midlands, particularly the West Midlands that bears the brunt of the snow overnight with several centimetres before the night is out. Further North and east the snow will become lighter with most of East Anglia and the southeast getting away with very little snowfall. Again there are likely to be some very difficult driving conditions tonight.
