Highways Agency Truckstop Guide for England 2006
Truckstops provide vital rest areas for lorry drivers and help ensure safety for all road users. We’ve published this guide to help truck drivers and freight transport operators plan their journeys. Truck drivers are one of the Agency’s biggest customer groups and we’re keen to help them by recognising the important service they provide.
Our free guide has useful information about truckstops near to the Highways Agency network with directions from the nearest motorway/trunk road. Other information includes truckstop opening times, driver and vehicle facilities and security features.
All of the truckstops listed in the Guide provide facilities catering specifically for truck drivers, and are recognised by local authorities as rest areas for heavy goods vehicles. They all have overnight parking, toilets, food and refreshments on site, or in the immediate area.
Safety is of paramount importance for truck drivers as they need to take regular rest making sure that they are safe to drive. They also need to be confident that their vehicle and loads are secure. The guide also contains information about personal and road safety.
The information in the guide is provided in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Polish and we’ve written it with the help of people who understand the road haulage and freight transport industries, as well as truckstop operators.
