Meeting the Public at Motorway Service Areas

Following the success of Operation Solidus, Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) will be running a number of 'meet the public' days at Motorway Service Areas during June, in conjunction with the Highways Agency Traffic Officer Service (HATOs). The objective is to give the motoring public the opportunity to talk with Motorway Patrol Officers about any aspect of policing the Motorways. In line with the Department for Transport and the 'THINK' organisations' monthly objectives, the theme for this month will be 'Drink and Drugs Driving'.

Uniformed Police officers and HA Traffic officers will be at these locations answering questions and giving advice and guidance and may have a few tricks up their sleeves as to demonstrating impairment. The officers will also be asking for the public's views on a range of issues and will seek to complete questionnaires. This is the opportunity for people to air their views on Motorway policing.

The dates and locations are as follows;

  • Thursday 12th June at Norton Canes between 09:30 & 12:30 and Hilton Park North between 13:00 & 15:30hrs
  • Saturday 14th June at Stafford North starting at 10:00 till 14:00hrs
  • Sunday 15th June at Strensham North services, 10:00 till 14:00hrs
  • Thursday 26th June at Frankley South services starting at 10:30 till 14:00hrs

There will be opportunities for reporting from any of the sites listed above and face to face interviews will be available.

Central Motorway Police Group is a partnership between West Midlands Police, Staffordshire Police and West Mercia Constabulary to police the region's Motorways.
