Highways Agency at the British International Motorshow 2008

Have you ever wanted to find out more about how we manage the strategic road network or get up close and personal with one of our Traffic Officer vehicles?

If the answer's yes, then why not come and see us on our stand at the British International Motor Show, which is being held at London's ExCel Centre between 23rd July and 3rd August.

You'll find us in the North Hall at stand N120 where Highways Agency staff will be on hand to answer your questions and show you some of the technology we use to manage England's motorways and trunk roads. We'll also show you how to get the most out of travelling on the network by using our journey planning and traffic information tools, and making sure you are fully prepared before you set off on your journey.

We'll be simulating the Traffic Control Centre on the stand, with a large video wall showing images of vehicles on the network. Real time traffic information will also be on display and we'll show you how can use the Traffic England and Highways Agency corporate websites to find out what's happening on our roads. We can also explain more about our telephone information lines, Information Points, and our latest traffic information tool; Traffic Radio.

For the car enthusiasts, one of our brand new Landrover Discovery Traffic Officer vehicles will be on display and over both weekends you'll be able to meet with some of our Traffic Officers who'll be happy to answer your questions and explain more about the service.

If you're interested in how things work, then have a look at our demonstration of a loop detector and find out how we monitor traffic flow and use the information to set some of our variable message signs. You can also use our interactive pods to find out how to improve your safety.

On top of all this we'll present you with your free road atlas that's also packed full of useful journey planning information - our glove box sized booklet "Think Ahead Move Ahead", and a chance to win a DAB digital in car radio every day.
