Severe Weather | England | Saturday 4th February 2012
04 February 2012
Road users are being advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they travel today (Saturday 4th February 2012), as snow is being forecast across much of England. As a result of this, the Highways Agency has issued an Amber Alert for all drivers on its network. Customers are advised to take extra care when travelling due to the increased risk of adverse driving conditions.
The Highways Agency, which is responsible for motorways and other major roads in England, is working closely with the Met Office to monitor weather conditions, maintain safe roads and reliable journeys. Drivers are advised to plan for their journey before they set out, checking the forecast, road conditions and to leave extra time if travel conditions are poor or to delay their journey if the weather becomes severe.
Up-to-date information about road conditions on England's motorways and trunk roads is available on the Agency website at www.highways.gov.uk/traffic or by calling 0300 123 5000. For information on weather conditions, visit the Met Office website www.metoffice.gov.uk or listen to local radio. Alternatively, you can follow us on Twitter @winterhighways.
Further updates will be posted as available.
