Aim­ing For Zero

Every year a small num­ber of peo­ple suf­fer seri­ous injury or die while work­ing on the Strate­gic Road Network.

Aim­ing for Zero is the High­ways Agency’s response. It sets an unam­bigu­ous goal for the Agency’s health and safety per­for­mance, con­firms the Agency’s lead­er­ship role in the indus­try and brings together health and safety work across the whole business.

Safety camerasWe use safety cam­eras as one of our mea­sures to help improve safety. There are fixed safety cam­era sites, mostly on all pur­pose trunk roads.
Road Worker SafetyThe High­ways Agency’s com­mit­ment to improve road worker safety has reduced casu­alty lev­els in this work group.
Construction and Maintenance StrategyThe High­ways Agency pub­lished its Con­struc­tion and Main­te­nance Strat­egy and Action Plan in April 2011.
