Area 9
Where is Area 9 and who looks after it?
From 1st July 2002, we have worked with our Managing Agent Contractor, AmeyMouchel to look after “Area 9”. The network we cover comprises 756 km of routes as shown on the map below.
Together we manage and maintain the motorways and trunk roads in the West Midlands, Shropshire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and parts of Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Gloucestershire. We work closely with the emergency services, Traffic Officers and other local authorities.
You will often see our cones on the road. They are there for a vast amount of different reasons and are used in all the work we do – some of which are looked in Why You See Cones on Our Roads in the menu above.
