Under Part I of the Land Compensation Act 1973 ('the Act'), compensation can be claimed by people who own and also occupy property that has been reduced in value by more than £50 by physical factors caused by the use of a new or altered road.
As part of our programme of maintenance of our roads we take steps to fill in potholes. If your car is damaged as a result of driving over a pothole in a trunk road or motorway, you may wish to obtain advice as to whether you have a legal claim.
