The Project Control Framework

This framework sets out how we, together with the Department for Transport, manage and deliver major road improvement projects.

A6 Great Glen bypass

LAND COMPENSATION ACT 1973 (AS AMENDED)

A6 Great Glen bypass

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions hereby gives notice that the public works detailed in the schedule below were first used after completion on 31 March 2002.

Under Part I of the Land Compensation Act 1973 (as amended) there is a right to compensation in respect of any depreciation of more than £50 in the value of certain interests in land caused by the use of public works and resulting from specified physical factors. In the case of street lighting the applicable physical factor is artificial lighting. Compensation is assessed by reference to prices current at a date twelve months after the highway is first open to public traffic after completion of the alterations.

Interests qualifying for compensation are specified in section 2 of the above-mentioned Act and there are special provisions relating to claims by mortgagees and persons entitled under trusts or settlements. However, no compensation can be paid under Part I where part of a property has been acquired for the purpose of installing the works.

Any person entitled to a qualifying interest who considers they have a claim under the said provisions may obtain further information and claim forms from the Highways Agency, Lands & Operations Management Division, Heron House, 49-53 Goldington Road, Bedford, MK40 3LL (Telephone 01234 796657 Bal Sumal)

Claims may be made twelve months after the date when new or altered highway was first open to public traffic, that is on or after 19 February 2004 (the ''first claim day''). Claims should be made within six years from this date. However, if interest is disposed of or (insofar as the interest is in land which is not a dwelling) tenancy is granted, claim must be made before such disposal or grant of tenancy.

Schedule

A new 5.63 km dual 2 lane carriageway bypass starts at the junction of Gorse Lane and the A6 at Oadby and rejoins the existing A6 approximately 300 metres north west of Kibworth Harcourt. Roundabouts have been built at the northern end of the bypass at the existing A6 and at Station Road to provide access to the village. Lighting has been installed at both roundabouts
