The Project
This was a combined safety improvement and maintenance scheme on the Knightcott Overbridge (A371), which crossed the M5 between junctions 21 and 22. The work began on 31 March 2006 and was completed by 21 June 2006.
The project entailed installing a new safety barrier in front of existing parapets, re-waterproofing and resurfacing the carriageway, and replacing the joints on the bridge.
The structure underwent this highly beneficial work in order to meet current safety standards and ensure the prolonged life of the bridge.
