The Project

Repairs to the bridge piers at Wansford Flyover, which carries the A47 over the A1 near Peterborough, began on Tuesday 2 May and was completed on Thursday 29th June 2006

During the work high-pressure water jets were used to blast off damaged concrete before it was replaced with new material. In addition to this, new permanent concrete barriers were constructed to prevent the bridge piers from being hit by vehicles.

The completion of these works has ensured the protection of the bridge supports from vehicle impacts. The work was also completed with minimum disruption and inconvenience to road users.
