The Project
This essential maintenance project involves reconstruction, resurfacing and drainage improvements to the main carriageway of the A40 between the villages of Huntley and Birdwood, west of Gloucester. The work is expected to start in January 2006 and is scheduled for completion by March 2006.
Following completion of the works, the improved drainage will increase safety for road users by reducing standing water on the carriageway. Residents of the area should also experience reduced road noise levels.
Traffic Management
The work will require traffic management through the area Monday to Friday, with total closure of the road on a weekend.
Local diversion routes will be in place during the closures and road users should allow extra journey time.
Update - Works Completed
The A40 Huntley to Birdwood maintenance project was completed on the 28th March 2006.
