The Project

The scheme involves the replacement of bridge piers on the A1(M) J58 Burtree Interchanges and the refurbishment of Webster Farm Overbridge and Burtree Farm and Burtree Lane Underbridges. The works will also include the resurfacing of a section of the A1(M) between J58 Burtree Interchange and J59 Coatham Interchange.

The works started on 10th March 2008 and are expected to be completed by March 2009.

Traffic Management

Two lanes of traffic on the A1(M) will be maintained in both direction during the day with a 50mph speed restriction in force. There will be some overnight lane closures and occasional road closures, during which signed traffic diversions will be in place, to allow the works to be undertaken safely.

During the early part of the scheme traffic will run in contraflow, on the A68, across the bridge at Burtree Interchange to enable works to be carried out in safety. The works will also require closures of the slip roads at both junctions with signed diversions in place.
