The Project

Improvements to the clockwise carriageway surface on the M60 between the River Medlock and junction 23 to reduce surface water and spray, commenced in July 2006 and were completed in October 2006. The new road surface will help rainwater drain away more quickly. We will also be making improvements to the drainage system, these works will continue until March 2007.

This project was procured via the Construction Management Framework. Find out more about this type of procurement.

Traffic Management

Current

The resurfacing works are now complete, traffic management and the 40mph speed limit have been taken off. Traffic is back to motorway speed limit.

Future

Drainage work will continue until March 2007. During this time the hard shoulder near Ashton Railway will remain closed. Occasionally we will have to close lanes at night or off-peak times.
