Progress Update
Regular users of the A3 will by now be familiar with the diversion of the A3 at the north end to allow us to build the Greensand Way and Hindhead Hill Underpasses. We have nearly completed the construction of the Greensand Way underpass, and we are now filling the hole around the Hindhead Hill Underpass.
Now we have finished the tree clearing it is possible to see all the way through Boundless Valley to the northern entrances to the tunnels.
At the south end the first half of the Canadian Memorial Underpass is complete and there is now two-way traffic on the southbound carriageway until June when the underpass should be complete. There has also been much activity in the Hammer Lane area where we have built a temporary diversion for the A3 and started installing concrete piles to form the walls of the underpass.
Tunnelling has started at the north end and the works to create the temporary tunnel entrance at the south end are largely complete.
