The Project

Work to repair a section of Oldbury Viaduct, situated on the north-western side of Birmingham on the M5 between Junctions 1 & 2 and spans the northern side of the A457, was completed on 15 December 2006.

What We Have Done

We have replaced the protective paint on the steel deck beams.

Why The Work Was Necessary

The paint system on the steel deck beams was near the end of its design life.  If the paint system was not replaced the steel deck beams would have corroded and would need to be replaced.

Benefits of the work

By replacing the paint now, we have stopped the steel beams from corroding and needing to be replaced.
