The Project

Resurfacing work was completed for the northbound A1 at South Witham, Lincolnshire approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Grantham and 9 miles (14.5 km) northwest of Stamford.

It was carried out on two consecutive evenings starting on Monday 21 August 2006 at 2000 working through the night to 0600.  The work was completed by 0600 on Wednesday 23 August 2006.

We resurfaced sections of the carriageway for just under half a mile (700 m), mostly in lane one, but with some work in lane two. The project was to remove the rutting and worn out sections of the road surface.

The works began at the beginning of the slip road off the A1 to Morkey Lane at South Witham, and continued for a further half a mile (700 m). This required a full closure of the northbound A1.
