The Project
Work started to repair the condition of the A1(M) northbound carriageway between junctions 1 and 2 were completed November 2006.
This work was necessary to ensure that it stays in a safe condition for many years to come.
What did the work involve?
- Structural carriageway repairs
- Repairs to the drainage system
- Strengthening of bridges
- Installation of concrete barrier in the central reserve
How have the works made a difference?
The improved carriageway now has a quieter, smoother and safer surface that benefits both drivers and those living next to the motorway. The work has also greatly extend the life of the road.
