Completed Works
M6 Keele overnight works
We have re-cabled the existing lighting system between junction 15 and Keele Services. We started the work in late March and completed it on 11 May 2006. The work was carried out overnight when traffic flows were at their lowest. There were lanes closed in each direction overnight.
M6 Stafford Services northwards 24/7 works
We have resurfaced 5.3km of the northbound carriageway between Stafford Services and junction 15, near Stone. We started the work in early March and completed it on 2 June 2006. The work was carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We kept three lanes open during the day with lanes closed overnight when traffic flows were lowest.
M6 Junction 12 to Penkridge (1st Phase)
We have resurfaced 3km of the old concrete carriageway north from junction 12 near Penkridge with a quieter road surface to improve noise pollution. We have also constructed a new concrete safety barrier in the central reservation. We started the work in mid March and completed it on 18 June 2006. The work was carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week with three lanes kept open during the day and lane closures at night. When we needed to close junction 12 we put clearly signed diversion routes in place in advance.
M6 Junction 12 to Penkridge (2nd Phase)
We have completed the second phase of our work to resurface the old concrete carriageway between junction 12 and Penkridge with a new quieter road surface to reduce traffic noise and spray. The work also involved new drainage and road markings. We started the work on 4 September 2006 and completed it on 5 December 2006.
