The Project

The second phase of the Soke Parkway Lighting Renewal Scheme from Bretton Way Interchange (junction 17) to Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway (junction 20) started on 11 September 2006 and was completed in March 2007.

The work involved the replacement of all street lighting equipment over 1.9 miles (3.0km), including the removal of a number of high mast lighting units. The previous Open Box Beam safety fence in the central reserve was removed and replaced with a concrete safety barrier, with new street lighting columns on top of it. Some safety fencing and street lighting equipment in verge areas has also been replaced.

The central reserve drainage system was replaced over approximately half the length of the site to suit the new concrete safety barrier arrangement. Structural maintenance works was also carried out to the bridges at the Lincoln Road Interchange (junction 18) and the Fulbridge Interchange (junction 19).

The value of the work is estimated at approximately £4.25m (GBP).
