The Project
Works are planned for Tuxford, north Nottinghamshire.
The work involves resurfacing parts of Lanes One and Two of the A1 southbound near Tuxford. This is necessary because the road surface has developed cracks and potholes, that could become unsafe if left to deteriorate.
It will be necessary to close the A1 southbound again on Thursday 5th October between the hours of 23.00 and 03.00 in order to complete repairs to the carriageway. The same diversion route should be used. The Highways Agency apologise for any disruption this may cause to road users.
Traffic Management
In order to carry out the work quickly and safely it will be necessary to close the southbound carraigeway of the A1 between Markham Moor Roundabout and Carlton-on-Trent. Southbound traffic will be diverted along the diversion routre described below.
Diversion Route
Work will affect southbound traffic only. Traffic restrictions will include the full closure of the southbound A1; through traffic will be diverted from the A57/ A614 Five Lanes End/Apleyhead roundabout. They will then take the A614 to Ollerton, the A616 to Newark, and then take the A46 before rejoining the A1 at the A1/A17/A46 junction; local traffic will be able to travel to the A57/A638/B1164 Markham Moor roundabout before being turned back.
Please drive carefully through our roadworks.
