We have resurfaced the dual carriageway section of the A556 at Tabley, as well as the M6 Junction 19 interchange and its slip roads. In addition we have been carrying out drainage repairs, renewing road markings, replacing signs, lighting columns and upgrading safety barriers.

The works are now complete.

A556 Improvements

Between October 2006 and March 2007 we carried out a series of improvements on the A556 and connecting roads.

Our aims of reducing congestion, improving safety and making journey times more reliable are particularly important for this route, which carries over 50,000 vehicles per day and serves as the primary link between the M6 and M56.

These improvements were procured via the Construction Management Framework. Find out more about this type of procurement.

The improvements are made up of six different schemes at various points along the A556, please use the links at the top right hand side of this page for information on the other schemes.
