The Project
Carriageway repair work on a worn out section of the A570 between Ormskirk and Junction 3 of the M58. Road works took place from Monday 2 October 2006 to Wednesday 25 October 2006 on a 1.8km length of the carriageway between Scarth Hill and Stanley Gate junctions.
Traffic Management
In order to keep disruption to a minimum, work took place each weekday night from 9pm to 6am. The road was closed during these hours for the safety of both road users and our workforce. The road remained open to traffic during the daytime and at weekends.
Two fully signed diversion routes were in place throughout the closure:
- For local traffic and vehicles not permitted to use the motorway, the diversion route followed the A577.
- Traffic that is permitted to use the motorway and vehicles over 7.5 tonnes were advised to follow the diversion via the M58, Switch Island and the A59.
Please see the attached map for both diversion routes.
