Project
This section of the M4 near Bristol experiences heavy traffic volumes and required resurfacing to improve ride quality and safety. The scheme will also reduce future disruption experienced by unplanned maintenance on this strategically important section of the network.
These essential maintenance works involved resurfacing of 3.3km of worn out carriageway on both the Eastbound and Westbound M4 between junctions 19 and 20. Some 9000 tons of surface was laid plus some minor drainage works were undertaken at the same time.
The work was carried out overnight under lane closures to minimise disruption, and completed in November according to schedule.
