Project
Works will take place at the A38 Markeaton roundabout, Derby and southwards for 400 metres.
It will involve the conversion of approximately 400m of footway next to the southbound carraigeway of the A38 to a shared use footway/cycleway. This includes widening the footway, new lighting, new directions signs, and a new fence to separate pedestrians and cyclists from traffic on the southbound A38.
This will complete a link between two sections of the National Cycle Network at Ashbourne Road and Windmill Hill Lane.
The current section of footway is already used (unofficially) by cyclists.
The work will be carried out between Wednesday 15 November 2006 and Tuesday 16 January 2007. The hours of work will be through the night from 9pm until 6am.
Traffic Management
1) overnight lane closures on the southbound A38;
2) closure of the existing footway (24 hours for the duration of the contract).
Diversions
Localised pedestrian diversions will be in place.
