The Project

Maintenance work on the A3 at Dennis Interchange and River Wey Ladymead bridge is complete. Work started on 10 November 2006 and took four weeks.

The work consited of replacing the parapets on the southbound carriagway at the interchange and on the River Wey Ladymead Bridge.

Traffic Management

The work was necessary to maintain the safety and serviceability of the safety fence for road users. Ten overnight closures were used (half of which will took place at the start and the remainder at the end of the work) to install and remove traffic management equipment.

During these times drivers were required to follow the signed diversion route.

For the safety of the travelling public and of contractors on site, the work required a temporary 30mph speed limit and narrow lanes on the southbound carriageway.  This was in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the duration of the work.

To meet the appropriate safety distances required for the work to be carried out, the works were carried out between the hours of 10.00pm and 5.00am and the southbound carriageway was reduced to a single lane between these times.
