Details of Works
Works are for the A1 near its junction with the old Great North Road, to the west of Water Newton, Cambridgeshire, approximately five miles (8 km) west of Peterborough city centre.
The works start on Monday 5 February 2007 and are due for completion on Tuesday 13 February 2007. They will be carried out at night between 20.00 hrs and 06.00 hrs.
A safety barrier will be erected to fill a 15 metre gap in the central reserve safety barrier. The gap has been used as a turning point, but has been closed for some time with the use of plastic bollards. Only traffic in the vicinity of the gap will be affected on both the northbound and southbound A1. There is an alternative access/egress to the east of the village
Traffic Management
The traffic management arrangements during the works will include;
- Temporary 50mph speed limits in both directions (24 hours for the duration of the works)
- Lane Two closures in both directions from 20.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs, while work is being carried out.
- Closure of three Laybys on the Northbound carriageway and two Laybys on the Southbound carriageway in the vicinity of the works.
There will be little disruption to drivers as work will take place at night when traffic flows are low.
