The Project
The scheme extends over 3.7km of dual 3 lane motorway and hardshoulder and is situated between Junctions 12 to 13 of the M6 motorway through Staffordshire. After the installation of a contraflow system, the existing concrete surface was overlaid with a low noise, low spray bituminous bound material. The centre reserve was hardened, and a slip formed concrete barrier was provided. Some drainage upgrading works were also undertaken. Two underbridges and the River Penk viaduct were re-waterproofed as part of the works. Roadmarkings and traffic loops were reinstated upon completion.
The scheme started on 8 January 2007 and was completed by 7 June 2007.
