Overnight on 19 September 2008 we diverted A38 traffic onto the new bypass. Westbound traffic has been placed in contra flow on the eastbound carriageway from the existing Liskeard Junction (with New Road) and the new Looe Mills Junction (on Lantoom Hill). Eastbound traffic is also diverted onto the new bypass but will remain in a single lane from the new Dobwalls Roundabout and the existing Liskeard Bypass. For the safety of the road user and our workforce there is a 40mph temporary speed limit in place along the bypass while work is completed on the tie-in to the new westbound carriagway with the existing Liskeard Bypass.
The existing access from the A38 into the Moorswater Industrial Estate has been closed. The new access to the Moorswater Industrial Estate will be via the opening of the new junctions east of the village.
We opened the new roundabout to the east of the village and switched off the traffic lights at the A38/A390 junction on 22 October 2007. We have constructed a temporary road for the A390 between the railway bridge and the new roundabout, slightly to the west of the new embankment which will eventually take the A390 over the new railway bridge. There is currently an enforced speed limit of 30 mph from the newly constructed roundabout at Twelvewoods to the top of Trebridge water.
Moorswater Collector Distributor Road
The Moorswater Collector Distributor Road was opened in February 2008.
Overnight on 19 September 2008 the A38 traffic was diverted on to the new bypass. Two way traffic lights will be installed on the Distributor Road at Moorswater to allow the construction work in this area to be completed. The two new junctions on the bypass (Looe Mills Junction and Dobwalls East Junction) have been opened to traffic to allow access from the A38 to the Moorswater Collector Distributor Road giving access to Moorswater Industrial Estate.
A 30mph speed limit and overtaking ban will be in force along the length of the Collector Distributor road for the safety of the workforce and road users.
For safety reasons Sunnymead Lane will remain closed until the completion of the works. Looe Mills Lane re-opened to traffic as part of the work on the 19 September 2008.
